Born on July 1, 1977, in Edmonton, Alberta, to a Nigerian father and American mother, Iginla embraced hockey from an early age and developed into one of Canada's greatest players.

Drafted 11th overall by the Dallas Stars in 1995 and immediately traded to the Calgary Flames, Iginla spent the majority of his career in Calgary, becoming the franchise's greatest player and captain.
