Monaco said the two sides had jointly concluded that the objectives set when Pogba arrived had been only partially achieved. His deal had been scheduled to run until June 30, 2027, meaning the agreement ends his stay with one season remaining. The club thanked him for his professionalism and wished him well for the future.
Pogba signed for Monaco in June 2025 as he sought to resume his career following a doping suspension. He had initially received a four-year ban after testing positive for dehydroepiandrosterone, but the Court of Arbitration for Sport reduced the sanction to 18 months on appeal. He had been permitted to return to football in March 2025.
The 33-year-old made six appearances for Monaco, including one start, according to the club's official player record. He played 115 minutes in total without scoring or providing an assist. His arrival had represented his first opportunity to play senior club football in France after developing at Le Havre before moving to Manchester United as a teenager.
Pogba's career has also included two spells with Juventus and a six-season return to Manchester United. He won four consecutive Serie A titles during his first spell in Turin, then won the Europa League and English League Cup with United in 2017. He later returned to Juventus before that contract was terminated by mutual agreement in November 2024.
At international level, Pogba earned 91 France caps and scored 11 goals. He was part of the team that won the 2018 World Cup in Russia and scored in the final against Croatia. Monaco's decision makes him available after a brief stay in Ligue 1, but neither the club nor the player has announced his next destination.
