Speaking at a press conference in London, Huni stated confidently: "100 per cent we're going to meet. That's a fight the fans want to see, and it's a fight I want. Itauma is a good fighter, but I've got the skills and the experience to come out on top."
The two boxers have been on parallel paths in the heavyweight division, with Huni compiling an impressive 12-0 professional record including eight knockouts, while Itauma has similarly impressed with his 10-0 record and seven stoppage wins.
Huni's promoter has already begun preliminary discussions about potential venues, with London's O2 Arena and Manchester Arena mentioned as frontrunners. "This is exactly the kind of matchup that British boxing needs right now," said the promoter. "Two young, hungry heavyweights battling for supremacy."
Itauma responded to Huni's comments on social media, posting: "Let him talk. The ring will do the talking when we meet." The Brazilian-born fighter has been training in the UK and appears equally eager for the bout.
Both fighters are expected to compete again in the coming months before any potential showdown could be arranged for late 2026.
