Rangers Set New Franchise Record With 12th Consecutive Victory
New York Rangers make hockey history with their longest winning streak ever, defeating Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1 to extend their remarkable run.

The New York Rangers made franchise history Monday night, defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1 at Madison Square Garden to extend their winning streak to a record-breaking 12 consecutive games. The victory surpassed the previous franchise record of 11 straight wins set during the 1972-73 season, marking a milestone moment for one of the NHL's most storied franchises.

Igor Shesterkin was spectacular between the pipes, stopping 34 of 35 shots to earn his eighth consecutive victory. The Vezina Trophy winner has been virtually unbeatable during this streak, posting a 1.42 goals-against average and .952 save percentage. His performance against Tampa Bay featured several highlight-reel saves, including a spectacular glove save on Steven Stamkos in the second period that had the Garden crowd on its feet.

Artemi Panarin led the offensive charge with two goals and an assist, extending his point streak to 15 games. The Russian winger has been the catalyst for the Rangers' offensive explosion during this run, tallying 12 goals and 18 assists over the past 12 games. His chemistry with center Vincent Trocheck has been evident, as the duo has combined for 23 points during the streak.

The Rangers jumped out to an early lead when Chris Kreider scored just 3:47 into the first period, capitalizing on a power-play opportunity. The goal came after a perfectly executed play that saw Panarin feed Kreider in his office near the left circle. Adam Fox added an insurance goal in the second period, showcasing the defensive prowess that makes him one of the league's premier two-way players.

Tampa Bay, despite the loss, showed why they remain a formidable opponent. Nikita Kucherov scored their lone goal and nearly created several other scoring chances with his elite playmaking ability. However, the Lightning couldn't solve Shesterkin consistently enough to mount a serious comeback threat.

This historic streak has vaulted the Rangers to the top of the Metropolitan Division and into serious Stanley Cup contention. With the trade deadline approaching, the team's front office is likely considering whether to make moves to bolster an already impressive roster. The Rangers' combination of elite goaltending, dynamic offense, and solid defensive play has them positioned as one of the favorites to make a deep playoff run.
