Team USA Gymnastics Names Star-Studded Roster for Paris Olympics as Simone Biles Leads Championship Pursuit
The gymnastics powerhouse announced their six-woman team featuring the return of four-time Olympic champion Simone Biles and rising star Jordan Chiles.

USA Gymnastics made waves on Friday by announcing their highly anticipated six-woman roster for the Paris Olympics, with four-time Olympic champion Simone Biles headlining a star-studded lineup that many consider the strongest American gymnastics team since the dominant "Fierce Five" of 2012.

Biles, 29, will be joined by defending Olympic floor champion Jordan Chiles, uneven bars specialist Sunisa Lee, and vault specialist Jade Carey, giving Team USA unprecedented depth across all four events. The roster is completed by newcomers Shilese Jones and Leanne Wong, both of whom have emerged as consistent medal contenders during the current Olympic cycle.

"This team represents the best of American gymnastics," said USA Gymnastics High Performance Director Tom Forster during Friday's announcement ceremony in Indianapolis. "We have experience, we have youth, we have specialists, and we have the depth to compete for gold in every event. Simone's leadership combined with the talent of these other five athletes gives us the best chance for success in Paris."

Biles' inclusion was never in doubt after her dominant performance at the U.S. Championships last month, where she won the all-around title by over two points and posted scores that would have easily won gold at the Tokyo Olympics. The Texas native appears healthier and more motivated than ever, having taken a two-year break after the mental health struggles that affected her performance in Japan.

The team selection process was particularly competitive this year, with several accomplished gymnasts narrowly missing the final roster. MyKayla Skinner and Kyla Ross, both former Olympians, were among the notable omissions despite strong performances throughout the selection process. The depth of American gymnastics talent made every roster spot valuable and hotly contested.

Lee, who won the all-around gold medal in Tokyo after Biles' withdrawal, brings crucial experience and consistency to the team. Her uneven bars routine is considered among the best in the world, while Carey's explosive vaulting gives Team USA a legitimate chance at gold in that event. Chiles provides valuable depth in multiple events while serving as an emotional leader for the younger team members.

The announcement sets the stage for what many expect to be a dominant American performance in Paris. With Biles competing at full strength and supported by a deep, talented roster, Team USA enters the Olympics as heavy favorites for the team gold medal while also having legitimate medal contenders in every individual event. The team will head to Paris in July with expectations of reclaiming American supremacy in women's gymnastics on the sport's biggest stage.
