Isak Double Secures Iraola's First Liverpool Win at Ipswich

Alexander Isak scored twice in the opening nine minutes as Liverpool beat Ipswich Town 2-0 at Portman Road on Friday. BBC Sport reported that the victory was Liverpool's first in the Premier League this season and Andoni Iraola's first since replacing Arne Slot as manager.

Isak opened the scoring in the sixth minute after Cody Gakpo found him between defenders Leif Davis and Jacob Greaves. The Sweden striker drove a right-footed shot toward goal, and Ipswich goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen could only divert the powerful effort into the net.

Liverpool struck again three minutes later through another combination between Gakpo and Isak. Gakpo used the outside of his right foot to send a pass forward from inside Liverpool's half. Isak flicked the ball inside Greaves, wrong-footed the advancing Scherpen and completed the move with a left-footed finish.

The two goals gave Liverpool control against newly promoted Ipswich, who had conceded five at Manchester United in their previous league game. Ipswich did not recover from the early setback, while Liverpool protected the lead to complete a clean-sheet victory and earn Iraola's first three league points in charge.

Isak's display continued a productive opening to the campaign. BBC Sport reported that he has already matched his Premier League goal total from last season, when he scored three times in 14 league appearances. His first Liverpool season was disrupted by injuries after his transfer from Newcastle United.

Gakpo created both goals after remaining at Liverpool when a proposed move to Manchester City did not go through. Bradley Barcola also made his Liverpool debut, playing the final 26 minutes following his arrival from Paris Saint-Germain. Afterward, Iraola said he was pleased with Isak's fitness and scoring, while Isak said Liverpool's fast start reflected the attacking approach the team had worked on during preseason.
