Golf Leaderboards: Korda Leads Chevron Championship as Stars Battle for Major Glory in Texas
Nelly Korda holds a one-shot lead after the opening round of the Chevron Championship as the year's first women's major unfolds at Carlton Woods, with pressure mounting on the LPGA Tour's biggest names to perform.

Nelly Korda carded a flawless six-under-par 66 to seize the early first-round lead at the Chevron Championship on Tuesday, establishing herself as the player to catch as the first women's major of 2026 gets underway at Carlton Woods in Texas.

The American star, seeking her third consecutive victory after wins at the Tournament of Champions and the Drive On Championship, made six birdies against no bogeys to open up a narrow advantage over a pack of chasers including姐姐 Lydia Ko and Inbee Park.

World number one Lilia Vu lurks two shots back after an opening 68, while reigning champion Min Woo Lee's sister Min Seo Koo is tied for fourth after matching Korda's birdie count.

In the men's game, PGA Tour action continues with the RBC Heritage underway at Harbour Town Golf Links in South Carolina, where the field chases Scottie Scheffler's early clubhouse lead. The Masters champion followed up his Augusta triumph with a solid opening 67, putting him in contention for back-to-back victories.

Over on the DP World Tour, the Spain Masters in Madrid saw New Zealand's Ryan Fox set the early pace with a nine-under 63, putting pressure on European Ryder Cup hopefuls vying for points in the qualification race.

'The conditions were perfect out there today,' Korda said. 'I felt comfortable with my game and just tried to stay patient. There's a long way to go but it's a good start.'

The Chevron Championship marks the beginning of a busy major season, with the US Women's Open, Women's PGA Championship, and AIG Women's Open still to come ahead of the Olympics in Los Angeles this summer.
