AC Milan Advances to Champions League Semifinals with 2-1 Victory Over Napoli at San Siro
Rafael Leão's decisive second-half goal completed a 4-2 aggregate triumph as the Rossoneri reached the final four of Europe's premier competition.

AC Milan secured their place in the UEFA Champions League semifinals Wednesday night with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Napoli at a raucous San Siro, completing a 4-2 aggregate triumph that sends the Rossoneri into the final four of Europe's premier competition for the first time since 2007.

Rafael Leão was the hero for Milan, scoring the decisive goal in the 73rd minute with a brilliant individual effort that showcased his pace and clinical finishing. The Portuguese winger cut inside from the left flank before curling a perfect shot into the far corner, sending the 75,000 Milan supporters into absolute delirium.

"This is what AC Milan is all about in the Champions League," said manager Stefano Pioli after the emotional victory. "The players showed incredible character and quality when it mattered most. Rafa's goal was world-class, and the whole team defended magnificently. We know how to handle these big European nights."

Milan took an early lead through Olivier Giroud's 23rd-minute header from a perfectly weighted cross by Theo Hernández, giving the home side the ideal start they needed. However, Napoli responded just before halftime when Victor Osimhen equalized with a powerful strike that left Mike Maignan with no chance.

The second half was a tactical battle of the highest quality, with both teams creating chances but struggling to find the decisive breakthrough until Leão's moment of magic. Napoli threw everything forward in the final 15 minutes, but Milan's defense, marshaled brilliantly by Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu, held firm under intense pressure.

The defeat was heartbreaking for Napoli, who had looked the more dangerous side for large portions of the match. Luciano Spalletti's team created numerous opportunities but couldn't find the clinical edge needed to overcome Milan's experience and home advantage.

Milan's progression to the Champions League semifinals represents a remarkable achievement for a club that has undergone significant transformation in recent years. Their combination of youth and experience, led by veterans like Giroud and emerging stars like Leão, makes them a dangerous opponent for any of Europe's elite clubs in the final stages of the competition.
