Antonio Brown plans plea deal to avoid prison in Miami case, lawyer says

Antonio Brown intends to accept a plea agreement in his Miami attempted murder case that would keep him out of prison, his lawyer said Wednesday, according to the Associated Press. The former NFL receiver is expected in court on September 30 to finalize the arrangement. The existing charge carries a possible sentence of up to 30 years if he is convicted.

The Guardian reported that attorney Mark Eiglarsh said Brown would accept an aggravated assault charge under the agreement. Separately, OutKick reported that Eiglarsh described an offer from Miami-Dade prosecutors that would substantially reduce the charge and replace the prospect of imprisonment with probation. Those descriptions concern the proposed resolution, with the court hearing still to come.

The case stems from an incident after a celebrity boxing event in Miami on May 16, 2025. According to the arrest warrant described by AP, Brown allegedly took a handgun from a security worker and fired twice at Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu following an earlier fistfight. Nantambu told investigators a bullet had grazed his neck.

OutKick reported that Brown was arrested in Dubai in November 2025 and returned to Florida, where he pleaded not guilty. He was subsequently released on a $25,000 bond with GPS monitoring. Eiglarsh maintained that Brown had acted in self-defense and sought to have the case dismissed under Florida's stand-your-ground law.

According to OutKick's account of the attorney's statement, Brown's decision to accept the offer did not mean he had come to agree with prosecutors' allegations. Eiglarsh described the strain that continued litigation and electronic monitoring would place on Brown and his family. The report also said Nantambu's lawyer had announced this month that his client forgave Brown and no longer wanted to participate in the prosecution.

Brown played 12 NFL seasons and spent much of his career with Pittsburgh before later winning a Super Bowl with Tampa Bay and quarterback Tom Brady. AP listed his career totals at 928 catches, more than 12,000 receiving yards and 88 touchdowns overall, a figure that includes punt returns and a touchdown pass.
