Cloud9 Defeats Team SoloMid 3-1 to Win League of Legends Championship Series Title
Cloud9 captured their fourth League of Legends Championship Series title on Monday evening, defeating Team SoloMid 3-1 in the LCS Spring Finals at the LCS Studio in Los Angeles, capping off a dominant playoff run that established them as North America's premier League of Legends organization.
The series was highlighted by an exceptional performance from C9's mid-laner Jensen, who recorded a combined 15/3/21 KDA across the four games while showcasing his signature Azir and Orianna play. His game 3 performance was particularly dominant, going 6/0/8 on Azir with perfect teamfight positioning that earned him the series MVP award.
"This feels incredible," Jensen said during the post-match interview. "We've been working so hard as a team this split, and to finally break through and win LCS again is a dream come true. TSM fought hard, but we had better preparation and execution when it mattered. Now we get to represent North America at MSI, and we're going to make the most of that opportunity."
Team SoloMid struggled to find consistent answers to Cloud9's superior macro play and team fighting execution. Despite strong individual performances from their ADC Doublelift, who had several impressive plays throughout the series, TSM was unable to match C9's coordinated team play and objective control that has defined their championship run.
The victory was particularly sweet for Cloud9's veteran support Vulcan, who finally claimed his first LCS title after years of coming close with various rosters. His shot-calling and vision control were instrumental in Cloud9's success, providing the foundation for their aggressive early-game style that overwhelmed opponents throughout the playoffs.
Cloud9's championship run was marked by dominant performances against every playoff opponent, dropping only three games total across three different series. Their combination of individual skill and team coordination has made them clear favorites heading into the Mid-Season Invitational in Seoul, South Korea, where they will represent North America against the world's best League of Legends teams. The organization's fourth LCS title further establishes their legacy as one of the most successful esports franchises in North American history.
