Lakers Extend Winning Streak to Seven Games Behind Davis' Career Night
The Los Angeles Lakers continued their exceptional February run with a commanding 128-115 victory over the Denver Nuggets at Crypto.com Arena, marking their seventh consecutive win and solidifying their position in the Western Conference playoff race.
Anthony Davis was the story of the night, delivering a career-high 45 points on an efficient 18-of-25 shooting performance. The All-Star big man also contributed 12 rebounds and 4 blocks, completely dominating both ends of the floor against the defending champions. Davis' previous career high was 43 points, set during his New Orleans Pelicans days in 2018.
"AD was just unstoppable tonight," said Lakers head coach Darvin Ham. "When he's playing at that level, we're extremely difficult to beat. He set the tone early and never let up." Davis scored 23 points in the first half, helping the Lakers build a 15-point halftime lead that they would never relinquish.
LeBron James provided excellent support with 22 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds, while D'Angelo Russell added 18 points and 6 three-pointers. The Lakers shot 52% from the field and connected on 15 three-pointers, their best offensive performance in weeks.
For Denver, two-time MVP Nikola Jokic recorded his 40th triple-double of the season with 28 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists, but it wasn't enough to prevent their third loss in four games. Jamal Murray struggled with his shot, finishing 6-of-18 from the field for 16 points.
The victory moves the Lakers to 35-25 on the season, currently holding the sixth seed in the competitive Western Conference. With their recent surge, they've positioned themselves as a legitimate threat heading into the final stretch of the regular season and potential playoff run.
