Allan Harrison Cards Eight Birdies in Nine Holes at Fairhaven
English amateur Allan Harrison recorded eight birdies across nine holes during the Silver Pheasant tournament at Fairhaven Golf Club, according to BBC Sport. The 64-year-old made seven birdies in succession during the remarkable stretch, turning around a round that had begun with four dropped shots over his opening nine holes.

Harrison told the BBC that he stopped for a pasty and a drink at the halfway house before treating the second nine as a fresh start. The reset was immediate: he began a sequence of seven consecutive birdies and ultimately made eight across the closing nine holes. His only par on that side came at the 157-yard, par-three 17th.
The 17th also offered Harrison his best chance to extend the run. His tee shot finished six feet beyond the hole after landing close to the cup, but he misread the birdie putt. A ninth straight birdie would have matched the PGA Tour record for consecutive birdies, achieved by Mark Calcavecchia at the 2009 Canadian Open and Kevin Chappell at the Greenbrier in 2019.
England Golf calculated the odds of any amateur making eight birdies in nine holes at one in 322 billion, BBC Sport reported. Harrison's 0.4 handicap reflects his high playing standard, and the governing body's estimate for a golfer of his ability was one in 455,000. For comparison, the PGA Tour's leader in average birdies typically makes about 4.8 to 5.0 over 18 holes.
Harrison has previously played foursomes with Tommy Fleetwood at Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club. His Fairhaven surge put him at the top of the Silver Pheasant standings with 40 points after the first round, although he could not repeat the performance on the second day and finished second overall.
The feat was rare but not unique in 2026. BBC Sport noted that Australian golfer Amelia Harris, 18, also made eight birdies in nine holes on her back nine during the first round of the US Girls' Junior in Durham, North Carolina, in July. Harrison's run nevertheless stood out for emerging after a difficult opening half and carrying him into the tournament lead.
