Andorra team-mate supports Owono after death of Tenerife striker De Miguel
Andorra defender Lautaro Spatz has offered public support to team-mate Jesus Owono following the death of Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel. BBC Sport reported on Wednesday that Spatz described the goalkeeper as devastated by the incident and said he would never deliberately harm another player. Spatz also paid tribute to De Miguel in his social-media message.

De Miguel, 30, died after being injured in a collision with Owono during Monday's Spanish second-division match. According to BBC Sport's account, the teams were level at 2-2 seven minutes into stoppage time when Owono came out towards the centre circle to clear a long ball. His knee appeared to strike the forward, who received treatment before being taken to hospital.
Owono was shown a red card and the game was abandoned. BBC Sport also reported that the Equatoguinean Football Federation issued a statement on Tuesday describing the goalkeeper's grief. The 25-year-old has represented Equatorial Guinea 47 times. Spatz's comments focused on his team-mate's character and distress, describing the consequences of the collision as something nobody could have imagined.
In its separate report on the tributes to De Miguel, BBC Sport said Reuters had reported a police investigation into possible involuntary manslaughter. It also cited Santa Cruz de Tenerife chief prosecutor Jose Luis Sanchez-Jauregui telling Spanish news agency EFE that criminal proceedings were 'very unlikely'. That assessment was not a final outcome of the inquiry.
Tenerife announced six official days of mourning and suspended club activities for that period. Players, staff and officials will attend the funeral in Navahermosa, Toledo, while the club plans to open its stadium to supporters on Saturday evening. De Miguel's family thanked those who had sent messages of support and requested privacy, according to the statement carried by BBC Sport.
A minute's silence was observed before Tuesday's Champions League fixtures, with further silences planned for Wednesday and this week's Europa League and Conference League games. De Miguel joined Tenerife from Castellon in summer 2025 and helped the club win promotion to the second division. Supporters have left flowers and candles at the stadium in his memory.
