Scotland captain Andy Robertson has reached 100 international appearances, becoming the second man to do so and moving within two caps of Kenny Dalglish.

Andy Robertson made his 100th appearance for Scotland in Saturday's Nations League match against North Macedonia, joining Kenny Dalglish as the only men to reach that milestone. BBC Sport confirmed the landmark, while the Scottish FA's player profile now lists the captain on 100 caps.

The Tottenham left-back, 32, is two appearances behind Dalglish's national record of 102. His international career began on 5 March 2014, when he came on during Scotland's 1-0 friendly victory over Poland in Warsaw. He was a Dundee United player at the time, having received his first senior call-up that month.

The Scottish FA's biography traces Robertson's route through Queen's Park after his release by Celtic as a teenager. He made his senior club debut in July 2012 and joined Dundee United the following summer. A move to Hull City followed in 2014, before he signed for Liverpool in July 2017 after three seasons in England.

Alex McLeish appointed Robertson Scotland captain in September 2018. He subsequently featured in every group match at Euro 2020 and Euro 2024 and started all six qualifiers as Scotland secured their first World Cup appearance since 1998. His first international goal came against England at Celtic Park in November 2014, on his fifth cap.

Before Saturday's game, John McGinn praised Robertson's sustained commitment to international football in comments reported by PA Media and published by STV News. The Aston Villa midfielder said his teammate had continued making himself available for Scotland despite the demands of competing at the highest club level. McGinn also pointed to Robertson's early setbacks and experience of part-time football as encouragement for young players facing rejection.

McGinn said Robertson was approaching the milestone calmly and remained interested in achieving more. He also acknowledged his own ambition to reach a century of appearances, while stressing that selection could never be assumed. Robertson's next numerical target is Dalglish's record, but reaching it still depends on further appearances: two would draw him level and a third would put him ahead.
