Andy Woodman has left Bromley by mutual agreement after more than five years in charge. Byron Webster takes interim control following a difficult start to the club’s first League One season.

Andy Woodman has left Bromley following the mutual termination of his contract, ending a spell that took the club from non-league football into League One. BBC Sport reported the departure on Thursday, October 22, with assistant manager Byron Webster assuming temporary responsibility for the first team while a permanent replacement is sought.

Bromley are 23rd in League One after winning two of their opening ten league matches, one point ahead of bottom club Wigan Athletic. They have conceded 25 goals, the highest total across the English Football League. Their next fixture brings Peterborough United to Hayes Lane on Saturday, with Webster set to lead the side.

Woodman arrived in 2021 and spent five years and seven months in the role. According to BBC Sport, only Arsenal's Mikel Arteta and Mansfield Town's Nigel Clough had longer current managerial tenures among the Premier League and EFL's 92 clubs. Woodman won 123 of his 289 matches at Bromley, a win rate of 42.6 per cent.

The departure follows Tuesday's 4-0 defeat by Leicester City, which The Football League Paper reported was Bromley's third consecutive league loss and fifth defeat in succession across all competitions. The change ends Woodman's involvement in the club's first season in the third tier, only months after he had delivered another promotion.

His achievements included winning the FA Trophy in his first full season and securing Bromley's first promotion to the Football League through a National League play-off final victory over Solihull Moors. The League Two title followed in 2026, along with the division's manager-of-the-year award. The Football League Paper also noted that he oversaw the club's best FA Cup run, reaching the third round to face Newcastle United.

Owner and chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves thanked Woodman for his contribution and credited him with a central role in Bromley's progress. In the club statement carried by The Football League Paper, he said the ambition to continue moving the club forward remained unchanged. Webster's appointment is interim, with the permanent managerial position still to be filled.
