Asa Tribe has returned to the UK after a travel restriction prevented him joining England Lions in St Kitts and Nevis. The ECB says it is speaking to the relevant authorities.

Glamorgan batter Asa Tribe has been unable to join England Lions in the Caribbean after his recent visit to Kenya triggered an entry restriction in St Kitts and Nevis. BBC Sport Wales reported that Tribe was back in the UK, with the England and Wales Cricket Board contacting the relevant authorities over his situation.

An ECB spokesperson told the BBC that St Kitts and Nevis had a 21-day non-entry rule for foreign nationals who had been in Kenya because of the Ebola situation. Tribe had played three one-day games for Jersey in Nairobi in late October, facing Kuwait, Papua New Guinea and Kenya before his planned Lions assignment. The report did not confirm when he might be able to join the squad.

Tribe's selection covered both formats of the tour, according to the squad announcement published by Nottinghamshire. He was named in the 14-player T20 group and the 17-player 50-over squad, with fellow Glamorgan players Mason Crane and Ben Kellaway also selected for the longer format. His absence therefore affects a player originally picked for both stages of the Caribbean programme, rather than one short series.

The tour consists of three T20 matches followed by five 50-over fixtures, all in St Kitts and Nevis. Somerset's Thomas Rew was appointed T20 captain, with Dan Lawrence taking over for the one-day series. Nottinghamshire's announcement identified Jonathan Trott as the leader of the coaching staff, assisted by a group including the county's Paul Franks. Trott described developing players for international cricket and helping others press their England selection claims as priorities for the Lions environment.

The remaining T20 fixtures are scheduled for November 3 and 4 at Conaree Sports Club. The 50-over programme begins at Warner Park on November 7 and ends on November 16, with Conaree hosting the third match. Those dates form the published itinerary; they do not establish a return date for Tribe.

Without him, the Lions opened with an eight-wicket win on Sunday, BBC Sport reported. Naavya Sharma took four wickets and Scott Currie three as West Indies A were dismissed for 98. Rew then made an unbeaten 50 as England reached 101-2 in 10.1 overs.
