Brewers Look to Continue Hot Start Against Struggling Red Sox
Milwaukee explosive offense and Jacob Misiorowski stellar pitching could pose major problems for Boston at Fenway Park.

The Milwaukee Brewers return to Fenway Park on Tuesday night riding high on an 8-2 start to the season, looking to extend their early success against a Boston Red Sox team still searching for answers at 2-8.

All eyes will be on the pitching matchup between Milwaukee rising star Jacob Misiorowski and Boston ace Garrett Crochet. The young Brewers right-hander has been nothing short of spectacular through his first 11 innings, allowing just three runs while striking out 18 batters. His microscopic .167 expected batting average suggests this performance is no fluke.

Misiorowski is in the 94th percentile in strikeout rate at 40 percent, noted one analytics expert. The Red Sox rank dead last in whiff rate at 33.3 percent, which could spell trouble.

The 24-year-old pitcher four-seam fastball and devastating slider combination has left hitters completely overmatched. His 42.2 percent whiff rate indicates batters are simply missing his offerings entirely, a concerning sign for a Boston lineup already struggling to generate offense.

Milwaukee enters Tuesday contest with the second-best run production in Major League Baseball at 6.80 runs per game. Their .813 team OPS ranks third league-wide, powered by a balanced attack that has seen contributions up and down the lineup.

The stark contrast with Boston offensive numbers tells the story of two teams heading in opposite directions. The Red Sox have managed just 3.60 runs per game with a collective .682 OPS, ranking among the worst in baseball.

While Crochet brings impressive credentials as last season AL Cy Young runner-up with a 2.59 ERA across 32 starts, his most recent outing against Houston was concerning. The left-hander struggled against the Astros aggressive approach, though Boston hopes a return to familiar Fenway Park surroundings can help him rediscover his dominant form.

The Red Sox face particular challenges against Misiorowski stuff. Boston ranks 26th in walk rate, suggesting they will be aggressive early in counts against a pitcher who occasionally struggles with command. However, their tendency to chase pitches outside the zone plays directly into Milwaukee strengths.

Defensively, both teams have shown solid fundamentals early in the season, making Tuesday contest likely to be decided by offensive execution and starting pitching depth. The Brewers bullpen has been particularly impressive, providing manager Pat Murphy with reliable late-inning options.

For Boston, the pressure mounts with each loss. Manager Alex Cora knows his team needs to find offensive rhythm quickly, particularly at home where fan expectations remain high despite the slow start.

The weather conditions at Fenway Park should be ideal for baseball, with clear skies and temperatures in the mid-60s expected at first pitch. With no wind factor anticipated, both pitchers should have optimal conditions to showcase their abilities.

Tuesday matchup represents more than just one game for both clubs. Milwaukee seeks to prove their early success reflects genuine improvement, while Boston desperately needs positive momentum before their struggles become a larger concern.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:45 PM ET at America Most Beloved Ballpark.
