Karl Robinson has signed a long-term contract at Bromley, who sit bottom of League One. Interim boss Byron Webster will remain on the coaching staff following Andy Woodman's departure.

Bromley have appointed Karl Robinson as their new manager as they seek to improve their position at the bottom of League One. BBC Sport reported that the 46-year-old has agreed a long-term contract, returning to management after leaving Salford City in June. He succeeds Andy Woodman, who was dismissed last month.

Byron Webster, who oversaw the team on an interim basis after Woodman's departure, will remain at the club on Robinson's coaching staff. The appointment gives Bromley a permanent successor following a managerial change early in the season. Woodman was sacked on 22 October after the side won two of their opening 10 games of the campaign.

Chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves said the recruitment process began the day after the previous manager left. In comments to the club website carried by BBC Sport, he explained that experience at this level was central to the search. He pointed to Robinson's tactical knowledge and record in League One as reasons for the appointment, alongside the manager's energy.

Robinson's first match will be at home against Rotherham United in the FA Cup first round on Saturday. The opposition will provide a familiar face in the dugout: Rotherham manager Alex Bruce previously served as Robinson's assistant at Salford. The cup tie comes before Robinson can begin addressing Bromley's position in the league.

His arrival follows a successful period under Woodman that ended with the difficult start to this season. Woodman had led Bromley to two promotions in three seasons before his dismissal. Robinson takes over with experience of winning promotion from League One himself, having guided MK Dons into the Championship after a runners-up finish during a spell lasting more than six years.

MK Dons were relegated the following season, and Robinson lost his job in October 2016. He subsequently managed Charlton Athletic before taking charge at Oxford United in March 2018. At Oxford, he reached the League One play-offs twice before being dismissed in February 2023, then spent time as an assistant manager at Leeds United.

Robinson took over at Salford in January 2024. According to BBC Sport, he led them to fourth place in League Two last season, the club's highest finish, but they lost the play-off final to Notts County. His dismissal followed that defeat, leaving the Bromley appointment as his return to a permanent managerial role.
