Bryson DeChambeau Claims Fourth LIV Golf Title in Dramatic Singapore Playoff After Water Ball Recovery
The American overcame finding water off the tee in the playoff hole to defeat Canadian wildcard Richard T Lee at Sentosa Golf Club, earning $4 million while Lee collected $2.25 million in his breakthrough performance.

Bryson DeChambeau captured his fourth LIV Golf title in spectacular fashion at Sentosa Golf Club, overcoming a disastrous tee shot into water during the playoff to defeat Canadian wildcard Richard T Lee in what he described as a brutal conclusion to the Singapore event.

The American and Lee had finished regulation play deadlocked at 14-under par, setting up a dramatic playoff on the 18th hole that would showcase both the agony and ecstasy that defines professional golf at its highest level.

DeChambeau immediately put himself in jeopardy by dumping his tee shot into the lake, seemingly handing Lee a golden opportunity to claim his maiden LIV Golf victory. The wayward drive appeared to end DeChambeau chances before he could mount any meaningful resistance.

When I hit it in the water, the wind just took it way out of line, it was brutal, DeChambeau explained afterward to TNT Sports. I managed to gather myself and hit a 300-yard three wood to get back in it.

The recovery shot proved to be one of the most crucial strikes of DeChambeau career, as he somehow managed to advance his ball 300 yards with a three wood to keep himself alive in the championship. His aggressive approach and precise execution under extreme pressure demonstrated the qualities that have made him one of golf most compelling competitors.

Lee, who had surged into contention by birdieing four of his final six holes during regulation, found himself in the unexpected position of holding all the advantages. The 35-year-old Canadian had played brilliantly throughout the week and appeared destined to claim the biggest victory of his professional career.

However, Lee conservative approach to the playoff hole ultimately backfired. Rather than pressing his advantage with DeChambeau in serious trouble, Lee played cautiously and failed to capitalize on the opening presented by his opponent wayward tee shot.

The turning point came on the green, where Lee faced a relatively short par putt that would have secured victory and the $4 million winner prize. Under the intense pressure of the moment, the normally reliable putter agonizingly missed the crucial stroke.

It was a short putt and I wanted to just hit it hard, and I hit it a little too hard, Lee reflected afterward. I think the adrenaline was pumping a little bit. Then again, I felt like I had it this week. I played really well. Hopefully next week I can try again.

DeChambeau, who had watched the proceedings unfold with obvious anxiety, expressed genuine sympathy for his opponent defeat. What a day, that was crazy, the American declared. I had to go for it and attacked it. I feel so bad for Richard. I wanted to go and play an extra hole. Sport is brutal - you never want to see someone miss a putt like that.

The victory earned DeChambeau $4 million from the $20 million individual prize fund, while Lee runner-up finish represented the highest placement ever achieved by a wildcard in LIV Golf competition. His $2.25 million payout provided significant consolation for the heartbreaking defeat.

Lee breakthrough performance throughout the week had been one of the tournament most compelling storylines. The Canadian had seized the opportunity to compete against some of the world elite players and proved he belonged on the biggest stages.

England Lee Westwood, 52, rounded out the podium in third place at 12-under par, earning $1.5 million for his solid week at Sentosa Golf Club. The veteran performance demonstrated that age remains just a number in professional golf when experience combines with skill.

DeChambeau fourth LIV Golf title continues his successful transition to the breakaway circuit, where his aggressive style and analytical approach have found a comfortable home among golf elite competitors.
