Rangers won 2-0 in Paisley, while Hibernian defeated Aberdeen 4-0. St Johnstone also won and Dundee United drew with Motherwell.

Rangers extended their unbeaten run to 12 matches in all competitions with a 2-0 victory at St Mirren on Saturday. BBC Sport reported that Derek McInnes's side have won 10 games during that sequence. Ryan Naderi and Dan Neil scored in Paisley as Rangers moved within a point of Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic.

Naderi opened the scoring from the penalty spot, taking his tally to six goals in his past eight league appearances. Neil then found the net with a deflected effort after Kevin Kelsy had passed up chances early in the second half. The result added another victory to a run containing only two draws.

Despite the win, McInnes identified decision-making near goal as an area for improvement. In comments reported by BBC Sport, he said better passing and choices could turn promising openings into clearer opportunities. Neil also acknowledged that the players had discussed becoming more clinical. Rangers entered the aftermath of the match with the division's strongest defensive record.

Elsewhere, Hibernian won 4-0 at Aberdeen, moving above their opponents into 10th on goal difference, according to the Press Association roundup published by the Guardian. Hibs had begun the evening three points behind the Pittodrie side but erased that deficit with a comprehensive away victory.

Jamie McGrath, Callum Wright, Thibault Klidjé and Nicky Cadden scored for Hibernian. Aberdeen's Jack Milne had earlier forced a save and struck the crossbar. Manager Stephen Robinson described his team's performance and the result as unacceptable, while saying he would continue fighting to improve their situation.

Dundee United recovered to draw 1-1 with Motherwell at Tannadice. Lukas Fadinger converted a penalty awarded after a video review, before Jesse Randall equalised. United manager Jim Goodwin disputed the penalty decision, while Motherwell counterpart Alfred Johansson defended it.

St Johnstone secured a 2-1 win over Dundee. Josh Campbell put the hosts ahead, substitute Joe Westley equalised after a defensive mix-up, and Kai Fotheringham struck the winner in the 72nd minute on his first Premiership start for St Johnstone.
