Cameron Menzies beats Gian van Veen to win Players Championship 29

Cameron Menzies won Players Championship 29 in Den Bosch on Tuesday, beating Gian van Veen 8-4 in the final to secure his second tournament title of 2026. BBC Sport reported that the Scot took the first five legs against the Dutch player before completing the victory.

The result gave Menzies a fourth ProTour title in his fifth year on the circuit. Ranked 26th, he overcame the world number three on home soil. His route to the final included wins against Kevin Doets, Jeffrey de Graaf, Wessel Nijman, Benjamin Pratnemer, Jim Long and Nick Kenny.

In comments reported by the BBC, Menzies said he had increased his commitment to the sport this year and was grateful to be competing for titles. He described building a better life as his central goal, while identifying a major trophy and a strong World Championship campaign as ambitions still ahead of him.

His previous title this season came at Players Championship 23 in Leicester in July. Sporting Life's report of that tournament recorded an 8-5 final victory over Cristo Reyes, with Menzies emerging from a field of 128 players. That success also confirmed his place at the World Matchplay and brought him the tournament's £15,000 first prize.

The Leicester win had required a different route through the closing rounds. Menzies beat Josh Rock 6-3, Charlie Manby 6-2 and Dave Chisnall 7-5 before facing Reyes. According to Sporting Life, he had also won his two earlier ProTour titles in Leicester, in 2024 and 2025. Tuesday's Den Bosch success therefore added a new winning venue to that record.

The Players Championship programme continues in Den Bosch on Wednesday with event 30. PDC Europe lists four further tournaments after this week's double-header: events 31 and 32 in Den Bosch at the end of October, followed by events 33 and 34 in Leicester in early November. For Menzies, the latest result adds another title before those remaining opportunities on the circuit.
