Carreras sparks Bath to 33-17 opening win at Harlequins

Positioned inside his own 22, the Argentina full-back stuck out a boot to cut out Tyrone Green's pass, then caught the ball one-handed before it crossed the touchline. He accelerated away to finish beneath the posts, turning a Harlequins attack into a Bath score.

Bath had already found two different routes through the home defence. Dan du Preez scored on his debut following his move from Sale, forcing his way over after Harlequins stopped an initial line-out drive. Joe Cokanasiga later exploited space around a breakdown. Harlequins answered through Will Porter, who collected loose line-out ball, and Chandler Cunningham-South after work by Oscar Beard and Connor Slevin.

BBC Sport reported that Bath's forwards then drove Dan Frost over in first-half added time, helping establish a 28-10 interval lead. Richards came on for Ted Hill in the 66th minute and scored five minutes later, extending Bath's lead to 16 points. Russell missed the conversion, leaving the score at 33-17, which remained unchanged through full-time. The replacement's contribution completed Bath's five-try tally and ended the scoring after Harlequins had registered the first seven points of the second half.
