Casandra Alexander Completes Wire-to-Wire Irish Open Victory

Casandra Alexander completed a wire-to-wire victory at the KPMG Women's Irish Open on Sunday, finishing three shots clear at The K Club in County Kildare. The South African closed with a two-under-par 70 on the Palmer South Course to post a 20-under total of 268. The Ladies European Tour reported that the win was Alexander's second title on the circuit.

Alexander established control with an opening 63, then followed with rounds of 66 and 69 to take an 18-under total and a three-shot advantage into the final day. Her closing 70 was enough to preserve that margin after a cautious start. She completed the four rounds in 63, 66, 69 and 70, according to the official tournament leaderboard.

Sara Kouskova of the Czech Republic finished second at 17 under after a final-round 70. Finland's Noora Komulainen shot 67 to take third at 16 under. Alexander therefore won by three strokes over Kouskova and four over Komulainen, maintaining the lead she had held from the opening round.

Ireland's Leona Maguire shared fourth place with Sweden's Louise Rydqvist at 15 under. Maguire had moved into contention with a nine-under 63 in the third round after opening with consecutive 71s. A final-round 68 left her five shots behind Alexander, while Rydqvist reached the same 273 total with rounds of 68, 67, 69 and 69.

BBC Sport reported that the fourth-place finish matched the best result by an Irish golfer at the home event. Maguire had been selected as a European wildcard for the Solheim Cup in the Netherlands and will now turn her attention to that competition. Her weekend rounds at The K Club recovered much of the ground lost over the first two days.

For Alexander, the result followed four runner-up finishes during the season, according to BBC Sport's account of the final round. The 27-year-old's previous Ladies European Tour victory came at the 2025 Czech Open. Sunday's win also extended her advantage at the top of the tour's Order of Merit, adding a full tournament victory to a season already marked by repeated high finishes.
