Watch Highlights
Tawanda Chirewa scored moments after coming on to give Wolves a 2-1 comeback victory at Burnley. The hosts have now gone 21 home league matches without a win.

Wolves recovered from a goal down to beat Burnley 2-1 at Turf Moor on Friday, with substitute Tawanda Chirewa scoring the decisive goal in the 72nd minute. Sky Sports reported that the Championship victory moved César Peixoto's team into sixth place and extended Burnley's winless home league sequence to 21 matches.

Jamie Vardy had given the hosts the lead after 20 minutes with his first goal for Burnley. According to Sports ZA's match report, Jacob Bruun Larsen created the opening after Burnley worked the ball down the left. Vardy had already tested José Sá, while Largie Ramazani and Bruun Larsen subsequently had opportunities to increase the advantage.

Instead, Wolves equalised six minutes before half-time. Kyle Walker lost possession near his own penalty area, allowing Sean Neave to supply Fer López, whose finish went in off the post. Sky Sports' report confirmed the equaliser came against the run of play.

The second half brought further saves from Grégoire Coudert before another Burnley mistake settled the contest. Sports ZA reported that Igor Julio's heavy touch allowed Mateus Mané to release Chirewa, who scored just 21 seconds after entering the game. Coudert made contact with the shot but could not prevent it going in. Wolves finished with 20 shots to Burnley's 15.

The result reversed a difficult spell for the visitors. Wolves' own pre-match account recorded successive losses to Middlesbrough and Bolton Wanderers following the international break, after earlier victories over Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion. The club had also confirmed that Adam Armstrong would miss the Burnley trip with a back problem, joining fellow forward Raúl Jiménez among the unavailable players.

For Burnley, the home record remains unresolved. Sky Sports reported that their last league victory at Turf Moor was against Leeds on 18 October 2025; the subsequent 21 games have produced 10 draws and 11 defeats. Head coach Nicky Hayen told the broadcaster that individual errors had undermined an otherwise encouraging first half, while Peixoto credited his team's mentality for the turnaround.
