Manchester City Extend Lead with 3-1 Victory Over Arsenal at Etihad Stadium
Erling Haaland scores twice as City moves four points clear at top of Premier League table.

Manchester City strengthened their grip on the Premier League title race with a commanding 3-1 victory over Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The win extends Citys lead at the top of the table to four points over second-place Liverpool, with Arsenal falling to fourth place.

Erling Haaland was the star of the show for the hosts, netting a first-half brace that put City in control early. The Norwegian striker opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a clinical finish from close range after a perfectly weighted cross from Kevin De Bruyne. Haaland doubled the advantage just before halftime, converting a penalty after being fouled in the box by Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes.

Arsenal fought back in the second half through a spectacular long-range effort from Martin Odegaard in the 58th minute, which gave the traveling supporters hope of a comeback. The Norwegian midfielder struck the ball sweetly from 25 yards, leaving City goalkeeper Ederson with no chance as the ball nestled into the top corner.

However, City restored their two-goal cushion just ten minutes later when Riyad Mahrez curled a beautiful shot into the far corner from the edge of the penalty area. The Algerian winger had been relatively quiet throughout the match but produced a moment of magic when his team needed it most.

The victory was Citys 23rd in 26 Premier League matches this season, showcasing the consistency that has made them such a dominant force under Pep Guardiola. De Bruyne was instrumental throughout, recording two assists and controlling the tempo of the game from midfield. Phil Foden also impressed with his movement and creativity in the final third.

For Arsenal, the defeat represents a significant setback in their pursuit of Champions League qualification. Manager Mikel Arteta will be disappointed with his teams defending, particularly for the first two goals, but can take positives from their second-half response and overall performance against the league leaders.

City will look to maintain their momentum when they travel to Everton next weekend, while Arsenal must regroup quickly for their crucial home fixture against Chelsea on Tuesday night.
