Denmark beat Wales 2-0 to claim first Nations League points

Denmark earned their first points of the Nations League campaign by beating Wales 2-0 at Parken in Copenhagen on Sunday. A Ben Davies own goal in the 53rd minute broke the deadlock before Gustav Isaksen doubled the advantage in the 66th, according to the match report on Denmark's official ForDanmark website.

Both teams lost their openers: Denmark 3-2 to Norway and Wales 1-0 to Portugal. The Danish side controlled more of the ball from the outset on Sunday but reached half-time without a goal. Isaksen had found the net after 24 minutes, only for his effort to be disallowed. Mohamed Daramy replaced Patrick Dorgu after half an hour.

Denmark's pressure eventually produced two goals in a 13-minute spell after the interval. Davies, the Wales captain, was credited with an own goal for the opener, and Isaksen then added the second. ForDanmark reported that the hosts kept Wales out, securing a clean sheet for goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.

BBC Sport's reporting detailed the set-piece problems behind Wales' defeat. Mikkel Damsgaard delivered the free-kick that went in off Davies, and another delivery led to the second goal. Kieffer Moore cleared from the line before Isaksen scored with a deflected follow-up, with that goal subsequently confirmed by a video assistant referee review. Earlier, Damsgaard had also struck the post.

Wales also created chances. Sorba Thomas sent a curling attempt narrowly wide in the first half, while Connor Roberts was denied from close range by Jorgensen. Speaking to BBC Match of the Day Wales afterwards, manager Craig Bellamy acknowledged that Denmark deserved the victory and said his side needed to improve their use of the ball and their work in duels.

The result leaves Wales bottom of their League A group, with neither a point nor a goal from two matches. BBC Sport reported that they have now gone six games without a win in 2026. Their next chance to respond comes at home against Norway on Thursday, followed by another meeting with Denmark in Cardiff.
