Dowman and Lady Blanche set for thrilling Bath showdown on Thursday card
Rising jockey James Dowman is poised to partner with impressive mare Lady Blanche as the pair attempt to continue their excellent recent form against a competitive field at Bath on Thursday afternoon.

James Dowman is primed for a significant test of his growing reputation as he teams up with Lady Blanche for what promises to be one of the most anticipated races on Thursday's Bath card, with the progressive mare facing her stiffest challenge yet over a mile and a quarter on theundulating Somerset track.

Lady Blanche has captured attention in recent weeks with back-to-back victories that displayed both tactical speed and a devastating finishing kick, qualities that have her connections increasingly optimistic about her prospects against older, more experienced rivals.

'Dowman has developed into one of the most promising young jockeys in the country, and his partnership with Lady Blanche has been a revelation,' commented trainer William Hartley, who has overseen the four-year-old's rapid improvement this season. 'She's learned to settle better in her races, which has allowed James to judge his pace perfectly. Thursday will tell us whether she can step up again.'

The duo will face a competitive field that includes several horses with proven form at the track, including the consistent performer Golden Orbit and the dangerous front-runner Midnight Request, whose early pace could test Lady Blanche's ability to obtain a handy position.

Bath's unique course characteristics, with its tight turning circuit and uphill finish, often favor horses who settle well and possess a turn of foot, attributes that Lady Blanche has demonstrated in abundance. However, her opponents include experienced performers who have thrived in similar conditions.

Dowman, 24, has been quietly building an impressive record this season, with his opportunistic riding style earning plaudits from both his stable and rival trainers. He acknowledged the significance of Thursday's assignment while remaining focused on the task ahead.

'Lady Blanche is in great order and handles Bath well, but this field won't give us anything,' Dowman explained. 'We'll need to be at our best throughout. The horse has been training exceptionally, and I'm excited to see what she can achieve against this level of competition.'

The race is scheduled as the third event on Thursday's seven-race card, with off time set for 2:45pm local time.
