Fitzpatrick Brothers Extend Lead to Four Strokes at Zurich Classic
American brothers Patrick and Beau Fitzpatrick continue to dominate the Zurich Classic, extending their lead to four strokes after a scintillating second round.

American siblings Patrick and Beau Fitzpatrick have put themselves in prime position to claim their first PGA Tour victory together at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, extending their lead to four strokes after a dominant second round at TPC Louisiana.

The Fitzpatrick brothers carded an 8-under-par 64 in Friday's foursomes format, combining brilliant ball-striking with clutch putting to move to 16-under-par for the tournament—four shots clear of their nearest rivals heading into the weekend's four-ball action.

Patrick, the elder brother and more experienced Tour campaigner, has been the steadying influence throughout, while Beau has provided the fireworks with a string of impressive birdie putts. The duo's communication and trust in each other's games have been evident throughout, something Patrick highlighted after their round.

"Playing with Beau is always special," Patrick said. "We know each other's games so well, and when one of us is struggling, the other picks up the slack. We've been building this partnership for years, and to see it paying off like this is really gratifying."

The Fitzpatrick brothers have come close to winning together before, finishing runner-up at the 2022 Zurich Classic and placing third at last year's event. This marks their best position through 36 holes in what has become their preferred team event on the schedule.

The format switches to four-ball for Saturday's third round before returning to alternate shot for Sunday's finale. The brothers will tee off in the final group at 1:50 PM CT alongside the chasing pack, which includes defending champions and fellow Americans.

The Zurich Classic, unique among PGA Tour events for its team format, has been dominated by American teams in recent years, with none of the last five editions won by international pairings.
