Fulham Sign Manuel Angel From Real Madrid on Three-Year Deal

Fulham have completed the signing of Manuel Angel from Real Madrid, making the 22-year-old midfielder the third player to make that move this summer. BBC Sport reported that Angel has agreed a three-year contract with the Premier League club after making four La Liga appearances for Real Madrid last season.

The transfer is worth £3 million and includes a 50% sell-on clause for Real Madrid, according to the BBC. Angel, a former Spain youth international, joins Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios in moving from Madrid to Craven Cottage during the same window. All three are reunited with Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa, who previously managed Real Madrid.

Angel said signing for Fulham was an incredible feeling and referred to the club's history as London's oldest. He also identified the opportunity to compete in the Premier League as an important part of the move. His arrival adds another young option to a squad that has undergone several changes before the new season.

Fulham also confirmed a separate deal for Sweden midfielder Hugo Larsson from Eintracht Frankfurt. Larsson, also 22, joins initially on loan, but the agreement obliges Fulham to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season for £18.3 million. BBC Sport reported that he spent three years in Frankfurt and made 87 Bundesliga appearances.

The club's deadline business also included Austrian centre-back David Affengruber, signed from Spanish side Elche. Affengruber, 25, has agreed a four-year contract that contains an option for one additional year. He played 84 times for Elche and was part of Austria's squad at the World Cup.

Angel's transfer stands out within Fulham's recruitment because of the repeated connection with Real Madrid and Arbeloa. The confirmed moves give the manager additions in midfield and central defence, while the terms vary from Angel's permanent deal to Larsson's loan with a mandatory future transfer.
