Laura Kaminski celebrates Norwegian double in first season at Brann
Laura Kaminski has guided Brann to Norway’s league-and-cup double in her debut season. The former Crystal Palace manager says the move has broadened her coaching experience.

Laura Kaminski has completed a league-and-cup double in her first season as Brann head coach, adding two Norwegian trophies to a managerial career that previously brought promotion with Crystal Palace. Speaking to BBC Sport in an interview published on Thursday, the English coach described her move to Bergen as a valuable opportunity to develop at a club competing for honours.

Brann secured the Toppserien championship with a 4-1 victory over LSK Kvinner on November 1. According to the club's account, Aalesund's defeat by Stabæk had opened the door for Brann to settle the title race with one match remaining. The result left the champions four points clear, beyond their closest challenger's reach, and confirmed a second successive league title.

Brenna Lovera scored twice before half-time in the decisive victory, with Josefine Birkelund and Tomine Svendheim adding goals after the interval. Luana Cotrau scored LSK's late consolation. Brann's league success followed their Norwegian Cup triumph in September, completing the domestic double. The club says the league trophy will be presented after the final home fixture against Molde on November 7.

Kaminski joined Brann in January after a spell at Palace that included promotion to the Women's Super League in 2024. She was dismissed in February 2025 during the club's difficult top-flight campaign, BBC Sport reported. Her Norwegian appointment brought a different competitive task: managing a side expected to win the league, rather than trying to challenge better-resourced opponents from a weaker position.

The 38-year-old told the BBC that Norway's aggressive pressing and attacking approach had expanded her tactical thinking. She also described the personal demands of relocating away from family and travelling extensively. Before taking charge at Palace, her experience included more than 15 years in assistant roles and coaching with England's under-19s.

Brann had identified Kaminski as the first female head coach in the club's history when introducing her in January. In that introduction, she emphasised relationships with players and staff, alongside creative, attacking football. Her debut campaign has now delivered both major domestic trophies, with the league championship secured before the season's closing round.
