Mahomes matches Brady milestone as Walker powers Chiefs past Chargers
Patrick Mahomes reached 100 regular-season victories in his 131st start as the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 22-6 on Sunday, matching Tom Brady’s record, BBC Sport reported. The win extended Kansas City’s unbeaten start to 5-0, with running back Kenneth Walker supplying 128 rushing yards and two touchdowns in another productive performance for his new team.

Walker’s latest contribution took him to an NFL-leading 665 rushing yards. According to BBC Sport, that total is a record for a player’s first five games with a new team. His two touchdowns against Los Angeles helped deliver a victory in which the Chargers managed only six points, leaving the teams at opposite ends of the early-season results.
Kansas City signed Walker after missing last season’s play-offs, adding the Super Bowl’s Most Valuable Player to its roster. The running back’s immediate production has accompanied the Chiefs’ return to winning form: they have won each of their first five games, while Walker has reached the top of the league’s rushing standings over the same stretch.
The result also left Los Angeles at 0-6. BBC Sport identified the Chargers and the Miami Dolphins, who were 0-5, as the only teams still without a victory after Tennessee earned its first win. The Titans came from behind in the final quarter to beat Indianapolis 26-20, leaving Los Angeles still searching for a breakthrough after its defeat by Kansas City.
The Chiefs were not alone in preserving a perfect record. Minnesota also stood at 5-0, while San Francisco, the other unbeaten team with five victories, was scheduled to host Washington on Monday night. Buffalo remained close behind that group at 5-1 after holding on for a 33-30 win over Las Vegas during Sunday’s action.
Kansas City’s next game will take Walker back to his former team, Seattle, on Sunday. That follows a week in which both he and Mahomes reached notable statistical landmarks: Walker through his five-game rushing total with a new club, and Mahomes by matching Brady’s number of starts needed to reach 100 regular-season wins.
