Manchester City and Real Madrid remain unbeaten after Champions League draw
Manchester City and Real Madrid drew 1-1 at the Joie Stadium on Thursday, leaving both clubs unbeaten but still awaiting their first victory in this season's Women's Champions League league phase. The Guardian reported that Khadija Shaw scored City's equaliser after Linda Caicedo had put Madrid ahead. Both teams now have two points from two matches.

City continued to pursue a winner in the closing stages. According to the club's live commentary, Sam Coffey and Carlotta Wamser had attempts blocked inside the Madrid penalty area in the 86th minute. Beth Mead then tried to create another opening for Wamser with a back-heel, but the move broke down before City could turn that pressure into a goal.
Madrid also had the ball in the net late on, although City's commentary said the referee had already stopped play after obstructing Mead. The visitors protested, but the score remained unchanged. At the other end, Alex Greenwood delivered towards Lauren Hemp in stoppage time; Hemp controlled with her chest, but goalkeeper Merle Frohms gathered before the forward could finish.
The outcome followed another City recovery in their opening European fixture. UEFA's account of that match records a 2-2 draw at Bayern Munich after the English side fell two goals behind. Giulia Gwinn's opener and a Kerstin Casparij own goal put Bayern in control, before Mead reduced the deficit and Wamser supplied the equaliser. Shaw also had a penalty saved by Ena Mahmutovic.
Madrid had begun their league-phase campaign with a 1-1 home draw against Paris Saint-Germain. UEFA reported that Felicia Schröder scored in the second minute from Arianna Caruso's cross, only for Sakina Karchaoui to equalise from the penalty spot after the interval. Thursday's result therefore made it successive drawn matches for both Madrid and City at the start of the competition.
UEFA's published schedule lists City's next European assignment as a home meeting with Paris Saint-Germain on 29 October. Madrid travel to Bayern a day earlier. Both clubs have four league-phase fixtures remaining, with the competition's 18-team league programme scheduled to conclude on 16 December.
