Saints recovered from 14-0 down to win 28-14, while the severity of Alex Mitchell’s hamstring injury remained unclear.

Northampton Saints recovered from a 14-point deficit to beat Gloucester 28-14 at Franklin's Gardens on Saturday, but the victory brought a fresh injury concern over Alex Mitchell. The scrum-half left the field in the first half, and Phil Dowson later confirmed a hamstring problem, according to the Northampton Chronicle & Echo.

Gloucester took the early initiative through tries from Max Llewellyn and Will Joseph, both converted by George Barton. BBC Sport reported that Seb Atkinson and Barton helped create Llewellyn's opener before a set-piece move produced Joseph's score. Northampton were left needing a response after conceding twice without getting on the scoreboard themselves.

That response came through the forwards. Tom Pearson finished from close range after Curtis Langdon supplied him from a maul, and Langdon then crossed himself following another driving line-out before the interval. Those tries brought Saints level at 14-14 at half-time, removing Gloucester's lead before the teams returned for the second half.

George Hendy broke the deadlock in the final quarter after a pass from Anthony Belleau, before Rory Hutchinson added the fourth try. Belleau converted all four Northampton scores. BBC Sport reported that the win moved Saints into third, level on points with second-placed Gloucester, as the league enters a four-week pause.

Mitchell's condition remained uncertain after the match. The Chronicle & Echo reported that he was replaced in the 21st minute by 20-year-old Jonny Weimann. Dowson said the severity of the injury was not yet known and stressed the need for caution. England were waiting to learn whether Mitchell would be available for their Nations Championship match against Australia the following weekend.

Northampton had also been without Fin Smith and Archie McParland against Gloucester. Dowson told the Chronicle & Echo that both had calf problems, with Smith's appearing less serious, although their situations still needed assessment. Saints now turn to the PREM Rugby Cup during the league break, having secured a bonus-point comeback win but still awaiting clarity on those injury concerns.
