Two stoppage-time goals secured Portsmouth's 3-1 victory over Swansea, keeping Middlesbrough top of the Championship. Birmingham and Norwich also won, while Sydie Peck hit a hat-trick for Sheffield United.

Portsmouth prevented Swansea from moving to the top of the Championship with a 3-1 victory at Fratton Park on Tuesday, as Terry Devlin scored twice and the hosts struck twice in stoppage time. The result extended Portsmouth's unbeaten run to six matches, according to the Press Association roundup published by The Guardian, and left Middlesbrough at the summit ahead of their Wednesday fixture.

Devlin's first-half opener separated the teams until the 85th minute, when Zan Vipotnik won and converted a penalty for Swansea. Portsmouth regained the lead through Devlin's finish from a corner in the second minute of added time. Tommy Waddingham then scored six minutes later, completing a late turnaround after Swansea had drawn level with only five minutes of normal time remaining.

Birmingham strengthened their own run of results with a 3-0 home win over Millwall. Alex Cochrane scored within the opening minute, and Max Bird and Jay Stansfield added goals before the interval. The victory was Birmingham's sixth in eight matches and extended their unbeaten home start in the Championship to seven games.

At the Hawthorns, Southampton recovered to draw 1-1 with West Brom. Isaac Price's penalty gave the hosts a half-time lead after Southampton failed to register a shot in the opening period. Samuel Edozie equalised after the break, and both teams missed opportunities to win a match in which three points would have taken either side into the top two.

Norwich won 4-0 at Derby, with Anthony Musaba, Paris Maghoma and Darlin Yongwa scoring before half-time and substitute Jovon Makama adding the fourth. It was Norwich's third consecutive victory. Derby, meanwhile, suffered their fourth defeat in five games and remained with just one win this season.

Sheffield United secured their first successive wins of the campaign by beating Preston 3-2 at Deepdale. Sydie Peck scored all three of their goals before half-time, cancelling out Leo Leroy's early opener with an intended cross in the 27th minute before scoring again 10 minutes later and completing his hat-trick just before the break. Callum Lang reduced Preston's deficit in the 77th minute, but the hosts finished with only one point from the 18 available under new manager Graham Alexander.
