PSG beat Manchester City 4-2 despite Haaland double
Paris Saint-Germain beat Manchester City 4-2 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, building a three-goal first-half lead before resisting a response led by Erling Haaland. According to Sky Sports' match report, the defending European champions controlled the opening half, while City's improved attacking display after the interval could not overturn the damage already done.

Désiré Doué opened the scoring in the 13th minute, moving inside from the left and beating Gianluigi Donnarumma at his near post. Sky Sport Italia's live coverage recorded a second PSG goal in the 15th minute. Ousmane Dembélé sent the ball across to Doué, then met his teammate's return delivery to double the visitors' advantage.
Vitinha made it 3-0 in the 32nd minute after Warren Zaïre-Emery's backheel created space for a shot from the edge of the penalty area. City made three changes at half-time, bringing on Ayyoub Bouaddi, Matheus Nunes and Iliman Ndiaye for Rayan Cherki, Rúben Dias and Jérémy Doku, as recorded by Sky Sport Italia.
The home side produced a much stronger second half and Haaland scored twice, but PSG added a fourth through Maghnes Akliouche. Sky Sports reported that Donnarumma's handling error allowed Akliouche's effort to find the net. That goal preserved a substantial cushion for the visitors even as City began creating the opportunities that had largely eluded them before the break.
AS reported that Haaland's first goal came from a header following Ndiaye's cross. The Norwegian later scored again after a lay-off from Bouaddi. City's pursuit of more goals also brought attempts against the woodwork, while Matvei Safonov stopped another Haaland effort that could have completed his hat-trick and reduced the deficit further.
There was still time for Donnarumma to save a late penalty from Ferran Torres, preventing PSG from extending their winning margin. Former City manager Pep Guardiola watched from the stands, Sky Sports reported. His former team's second-half recovery made the contest competitive again, but PSG's three goals before the interval and Akliouche's subsequent strike proved sufficient to secure victory.
