Rublev reaches 400 wins as Medvedev joins him in Hangzhou final

Andrey Rublev recorded his 400th tour-level victory on Monday, beating Kyrian Jacquet 7-6(0), 6-1 to reach the Hangzhou Open final. According to ATP reporting published by the tournament, the second seed will face Daniil Medvedev after both players won their semi-finals in straight sets, each reaching a career milestone.

Rublev's victory took his career record to 400 wins and 226 defeats, placing him ninth among active men for tour-level wins. The 28-year-old followed a competitive opening set with a decisive second to secure his third final of the season. He has already won a title in Bastad this year.

His path to Monday's milestone had included a much tighter quarter-final against Hugo Gaston. ATP's report of Sunday's play said Rublev came within three points of defeat late in the second set before recovering. He eventually won 6-7(6), 7-6(4), 6-1, overturning the opening-set loss and pulling away in the decider to keep his tournament alive.

Jacquet had reached his first ATP Tour semi-final by defeating sixth seed Fabian Marozsan 7-6(12), 6-4 on Sunday, following an earlier win over third seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry. The Frenchman saved three set points in the quarter-final's opening tie-break and all three break points he faced, including two while serving for the match at 5-4. That one-hour, 47-minute victory lifted Jacquet 25 places to No. 85 in the live rankings.

Medvedev also needed three sets in Sunday's quarter-finals, beating Coleman Wong 6-3, 6-7(2), 6-3. The top seed struck 18 aces and saved five of six break points, advancing beyond the stage at which he had exited Hangzhou the previous year. His semi-final opponent, Roman Safiullin, had earned his place with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Buyunchaokete.

On Monday, Medvedev defeated Safiullin 7-5, 6-4 for his 350th hard-court victory, fourth among active men. He reached his fourth final this season, having won in Brisbane and Dubai and finished runner-up at Indian Wells. The results set up a Tuesday title match between Hangzhou's top two seeds.
