Shadab Khan hit an unbeaten 113 as Pakistan recovered from 154-9 to beat England in Lahore. The result leaves England facing elimination from the ODI tri-series.

Pakistan beat England by one wicket in Lahore on Sunday after Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf put on an unbeaten 89 for the final wicket. Chasing 242, Pakistan recovered from 154-9 to finish on 243-9 with 17 balls remaining, leaving England without a victory after three matches in the one-day international tri-series.

Shadab finished unbeaten on 113 from 96 balls, striking 13 fours and five sixes. According to BBC Sport's match report, it was the highest individual score by a number eight in an ODI. The BBC also reported that the partnership was a record for a last-wicket pair completing a successful ODI chase, turning a position that had strongly favoured England into a Pakistan victory.

The decisive reprieve came when Shadab, on 97, was given out lbw to Gus Atkinson with Pakistan still needing 21 runs. Players had shaken hands before Shadab requested a review. The decision was overturned after the review detected an inside edge, allowing the chase to continue rather than ending the match in England's favour.

Rauf contributed seven runs and faced 19 deliveries during the 80-ball partnership. Shadab took most of the strike, while Rauf defended his first 18 balls before hitting debutant Henry Crocombe for the winning boundary. Rauf had also survived a potential run-out opportunity when Pakistan still needed 18, with Tom Banton attempting a flick from mid-on.

Earlier, Ben Duckett scored 105 from 111 deliveries in England's total of 241, with the visitors bowled out in 46.4 overs. Shaheen took 4-46. Duckett, Sam Curran and Atkinson were the only England batters to pass 20, but the bowling attack initially put that total within reach of being defended.

Jamie Overton returned 3-43, delivering his full allocation of 10 overs in one spell. Shadab had come in at 103-6 after being left out of Pakistan's first two matches of the series. England's defeat leaves their progress dependent on another result: a Sri Lanka win over Pakistan on Tuesday would confirm their elimination before their final match against Sri Lanka on Thursday.
