Shai Hope made an unbeaten 102 as West Indies chased down 250 with nine balls remaining in Ranchi. The six-wicket victory levelled the five-match T20I series at 1-1.

Shai Hope hit an unbeaten 102 as West Indies chased a target of 250 to beat India by six wickets in the second T20 international in Ranchi on Friday. BBC Sport's completed scorecard recorded the tourists at 252-4 after 18.3 overs, leaving nine balls unused and levelling the five-match series at 1-1.

Hope faced 45 deliveries and struck six fours and nine sixes, providing the foundation for a recovery from 5-2 in the opening over. Mayank Yadav removed Kamil Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer from consecutive deliveries, then dismissed Rovman Powell for 24 to leave West Indies 58-3 early in the sixth over.

Sherfane Rutherford supplied 84 from 37 balls, including seven fours and seven sixes. He and Hope added 120 for the fourth wicket before Kuldeep Yadav removed Rutherford at 178-4. Romario Shepherd then finished unbeaten on 34 from 13 deliveries as West Indies completed the chase without losing another wicket.

India had posted 249-5 after being asked to bat at the JSCA International Stadium Complex. According to ANI's innings report, published by The Tribune, Sanju Samson led the scoring with 82 from 41 balls, reaching his half-century in 21 deliveries. His innings included nine fours and four sixes, while Ishan Kishan contributed 43 from 22 balls with six fours and two sixes.

PTI also reported contributions from Shreyas Iyer, who made 40 from 18 deliveries, and Tilak Varma, unbeaten on 44 from 18. India lost only five wickets across their 20 overs, but their imposing total proved insufficient against a West Indies reply that recovered emphatically from its early setbacks.

The result reversed the outcome of the opener in Lucknow, where India had won by eight wickets. The ICC reported that Iyer's maiden T20I century drove that successful pursuit of 172, with 32 balls remaining. The teams now move to Indore for the third match on October 11, before the remaining fixtures in Hyderabad on October 14 and Bengaluru on October 17.
