Solanke rescues 10-man Tottenham in 1-1 draw at Manchester United
Dominic Solanke headed an added-time equaliser as 10-man Tottenham recovered to draw 1-1 at Manchester United on Saturday, October 10. The Guardian reported that his first goal of the season cancelled out Bryan Mbeumo's opener at Old Trafford, rescuing a point after Rodrigo Bentancur had been sent off following a confrontation with Luke Shaw.

United broke the deadlock after 72 minutes through a move down their left. Shaw found Matheus Cunha, whose delivery reached Mbeumo for a turn and finish. The goal put Tottenham on course for another defeat and left them bottom of the Premier League table at that stage of the match, before the visitors found their late response.
Their task became harder following an incident that began as Shaw pursued a pass from Bruno Fernandes. Bentancur attempted a scissors challenge, after which Shaw pushed the Tottenham midfielder to the ground. Bentancur then got up and made head-to-head contact with Shaw. The referee dismissed Bentancur and booked both Shaw and Jan Paul van Hecke as the confrontation drew in other players.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Tottenham found a way through in stoppage time. Sandro Tonali sent a cross in from the left, and Solanke beat Lisandro Martinez to the ball before heading past goalkeeper Senne Lammens. The Guardian's match report identified United's failure to deal with the delivery as the opening that allowed Tottenham to score only their third league goal of the campaign.
The equaliser prevented a fourth league defeat for Spurs but did not end their wait for a victory. They remain winless after six league matches, a start the Guardian reported they have made only four times. The point lifted them off the bottom, although they stayed in the relegation zone. For United, Mbeumo's breakthrough was not enough to secure a home win after a contest in which neither side had converted their earlier efforts into a goal.
Both managers now face different immediate schedules. Roberto De Zerbi is taking Tottenham to Marbella for warm-weather training, while Michael Carrick's United travel to Atletico Madrid for a Champions League match on Tuesday. Neither left Old Trafford with the victory they needed, but Solanke's late intervention changed the outcome for a Tottenham side that had been trailing with ten men.
