Sydie Peck hat-trick earns Sheffield United 3–2 win at Preston
Sydie Peck scored a first-half hat-trick as Sheffield United recovered from an early setback to beat Preston North End 3–2 at Deepdale on Tuesday, November 3. The 22-year-old supplied all three of the visitors’ goals, and they held on after Callum Lang reduced the deficit in the second half.

The Press Association’s report, carried by the Guardian, said Leo Leroy put Preston ahead after only two minutes. Peck equalised in the 27th minute when an intended cross found the net, then struck again 10 minutes later. He completed his treble with a close-range finish just before the interval, turning a one-goal deficit into a 3–1 lead.
The Yorkshire Post described the skill behind Peck’s second goal. Ben Brereton Díaz’s pass drew goalkeeper Daniel Iversen away from his goal, and Peck went around him on the left. With defenders retreating to cover, the midfielder opted to shoot rather than pass and curled his effort into the top corner. Romelle Donovan then supplied the low delivery for his third.
Peck continued to threaten after the break, forcing Iversen into a low save at his near post and later sending another effort close to the far corner, according to the Yorkshire Post. Preston nevertheless found a route back into the contest when substitute Lang converted after a pass from fellow replacement Alfie Devine.
United resisted the late pressure to secure consecutive league victories for the first time this season. The Yorkshire Post reported that Chris Wilder’s team had collected 10 points from their last five matches, part of a seven-game stretch before the November international break. The win followed an opening period in which Preston had been the stronger side.
For Preston, the result extended a difficult run under Graham Alexander to one point from six matches, the Press Association reported. Alexander said prolonged struggles could wear players down but maintained that the squad cared and remained committed. His team had taken an early lead and later cut the gap to one goal, yet neither spell was enough to overturn Peck’s decisive first-half contribution.
