Tenerife say Jesus de Miguel is stable in hospital after a serious injury against Andorra. The second-division match was abandoned following the stoppage-time collision.

Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel is in intensive care in a stable condition after suffering a serious injury during Monday's Spanish second-division match against Andorra, BBC Sport reported. The 30-year-old was taken to hospital after a collision with visiting goalkeeper Jesus Owono, and the referee subsequently abandoned the match.

Tenerife said De Miguel had been admitted to the University Hospital of Nuestra Senora de Candelaria. The club described him as stable while emphasising the severity of his condition. That update followed an incident involving the Madrid-born forward's head and chest late in the home fixture at Estadio Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez.

The teams were level at 2-2 and seven minutes into added time when the collision occurred. According to the BBC's account, Owono had moved towards the centre circle to clear a long ball. His knee appeared to make contact with De Miguel, who remained motionless on the field as medical personnel came to treat him.

An ambulance then took the striker from the stadium to hospital. The incident left players from both sides visibly distressed, with several of De Miguel's team-mates in tears. Owono was shown a straight red card before the referee brought the match to an end by abandoning it, rather than allowing play to continue.

BBC Sport also cited Spanish media reports, including Marca, that De Miguel suffered a cardiac arrest in the ambulance and was resuscitated by paramedics during the journey. That account was attributed to media reporting; the Tenerife statement quoted by the BBC confirmed his admission and stable condition but did not provide those details.

Andorra issued a statement expressing support for De Miguel after the incident. The visiting club said it hoped he would recover soon and extended its best wishes to the player, his family and Tenerife. The statements from both clubs focused on his condition and support for those affected, while the match itself had stopped with the score still tied.
