Rennes made an ideal start when Sebastian Szymanski scored inside nine minutes, his shot going in off the post. PSG briefly believed they had equalized through Désiré Doué, but the effort was disallowed for offside, leaving the visitors behind as Rennes continued to threaten.
The home side doubled its advantage seven minutes before halftime. Przemyslaw Frankowski found room on the right and delivered a low cross into the penalty area, where Esteban Lepaul turned the ball into the net. That sent Rennes into the interval with a 2-0 lead against the reigning champions.
PSG increased the pressure after the break and finally broke through with 19 minutes remaining. Torres timed his run to beat the offside trap, collected a pass from Fabián Ruiz and finished for his first goal since joining the club from Barcelona. The goal brought PSG back into the contest but still left Rennes protecting a narrow lead.
Torres completed the comeback in the 83rd minute, with Ruiz again supplying the assist. This time Ruiz crossed from the left and the Spanish forward converted to make it 2-2. PSG pushed for a winner after drawing level, but Rennes held on to secure a share of the points.
The result gave both clubs one point from their opening Ligue 1 fixture. Rennes had been close to a notable home victory after building its halftime advantage, while PSG avoided defeat through the immediate impact of a debutant introduced from the bench. Torres’ two finishes and Ruiz’s two assists provided the decisive response after a difficult first half for the champions.
