Whittaker Says Showboating Can Lead to 'Complete Domination'
Australian boxing sensation Josh Whittaker has dismissed critics who question his flamboyant fighting style, insisting that his showboating inside the ring is calculated strategy rather than mere spectacle. The rising super middleweight contender believes his unique approach can deliver him to "complete domination" of the division.

Whittaker, who climbed to number three in the WBC rankings following his explosive knockout victory in Melbourne last weekend, has become one of the most talked-about fighters in the sport. His signature moves - including rolling shoulders before combinations and pointing at opponents before landing power shots - have divided opinion in boxing circles.
"People think I'm just trying to be flashy, but every movement in that ring has a purpose," Whittaker explained during an exclusive interview at his Sydney training base. "When I dance, I'm making my opponent think. When I showboat, I'm planting seeds of doubt. By the fifth round, they're not fighting me - they're fighting themselves."
The 26-year-old southpaw has amassed an undefeated 18-0 record with 14 knockouts since turning professional. His recent performance against former world title challenger Marcus Vasquez drew praise from promoters, with several major names in the super middleweight division now expressing interest in high-profile bouts.
Former trainer and boxing analyst Tony Bruno offered a more skeptical view: "Showmanship has its place, but at the elite level, you need substance. Can Whittaker deliver when someone like Charlo or Benavidez is landing clean shots? That's the real test."
Whittaker dismissed the concerns, citing his power statistics which show him landing significant strikes at a higher percentage than any other contender in the top five. "My knockout rate speaks for itself. I'm not just dancing - I'm devastating," he said. "And when I hold all four belts, the critics will have their answers."
Whittaker is expected to announce his next fight date within the next two weeks, with sources close to his team suggesting a summer showdown with a top-five opponent is imminent.
