Kawhi Leonard Returns from Injury with 31 Points as Clippers Beat Kings 118-104
Kawhi Leonard made a triumphant return to the Los Angeles Clippers lineup on Sunday night, scoring 31 points in 28 minutes as LA defeated the Sacramento Kings 118-104 at Crypto.com Arena after missing 15 games due to knee inflammation.
The two-time Finals MVP looked remarkably fresh despite the extended absence, shooting 12-of-18 from the field and 5-of-8 from three-point range while adding 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Leonard's smooth shooting stroke and defensive intensity showed no signs of rust as he helped the Clippers snap a three-game losing streak.
"It feels great to be back out there with my teammates," Leonard said after the victory. "I've been working hard during the time off to make sure I was ready when I came back. The knee feels good, and I'm just happy we could get the win tonight."
Paul George provided excellent support with 24 points and 8 assists, while Russell Westbrook added 16 points off the bench in an energetic performance. The Clippers shot 52% from the field as a team and made 18 three-pointers, showcasing the offensive firepower that makes them dangerous when healthy.
For Sacramento, De'Aaron Fox led the way with 28 points and 6 assists, but the Kings couldn't match the Clippers' intensity on either end of the floor. Domantas Sabonis contributed 18 points and 12 rebounds, though the Kings' defense struggled to contain Leonard's array of mid-range jumpers and three-point shots.
The victory moves the Clippers to 33-23 on the season and back into playoff contention in the competitive Western Conference. Leonard's return couldn't come at a better time as LA looks to make a push toward home-court advantage in the postseason. With their superstar duo now healthy and the supporting cast clicking, the Clippers appear poised to be a dangerous playoff opponent when fully assembled.
