NBA All-Star Weekend Delivers Record-Breaking Performances
The 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles concluded with a series of memorable performances that will be talked about for years to come. The main event saw Team LeBron defeat Team Giannis 184-175 in the highest-scoring All-Star Game in league history, surpassing the previous record set in 2022.
Jayson Tatum earned MVP honors with a spectacular 41-point performance, shooting 14-of-20 from the field and 8-of-12 from three-point range. His offensive clinic included several highlight-reel dunks and clutch three-pointers that electrified the Crypto.com Arena crowd. Tatum becomes the youngest player since Kobe Bryant to win All-Star MVP honors.
The Saturday night events were equally impressive, with Charlotte Hornets rookie Brandon Miller winning the Slam Dunk Contest with a perfect score in the final round. His between-the-legs dunk from the free-throw line drew comparisons to Michael Jordan's iconic 1988 performance. Miami Heat's Tyler Herro claimed the Three-Point Contest title, hitting 23 of 27 shots in the final round.
Damian Lillard showcased his range in the inaugural NBA vs. WNBA Three-Point Challenge, teaming with WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu to defeat Stephen Curry and Caitlin Clark in a thrilling finale that went to overtime. The cross-league competition proved to be one of the weekend's most popular additions.
The Rising Stars Challenge featured incredible individual performances from the league's young talent, with Victor Wembanyama recording a triple-double and Paolo Banchero scoring 35 points to lead Team Detlef to victory over Team Isiah.
Commissioner Adam Silver used his State of the League address to announce several initiatives for fan engagement and international expansion, including plans for regular season games in Africa and India starting in the 2026-27 season.
