Nottingham Forest Work on Deal for Chelsea Striker Liam Delap

Nottingham Forest are working on a deal for Chelsea striker Liam Delap, according to BBC Sport. Chelsea have made the 23-year-old available for sale at a reported price of £50 million, and he is training separately from the club's first-team squad. No transfer has been announced.

The proposed structure of the move remains uncertain. BBC Sport reported that it was not yet clear whether discussions concerned a permanent transfer or a loan, while noting that Forest and Chelsea have a positive working relationship. That leaves both the terms and outcome of the talks unresolved.

Delap was not included in Chelsea's squad for Monday's Premier League fixture against Fulham. He also lost the number nine shirt to fellow forward Joao Pedro last week, developments that have come a little more than a year after Delap arrived at Stamford Bridge from Ipswich Town for £30 million.

His first season at Chelsea was interrupted by shoulder and hamstring injuries. Delap finished the campaign with one Premier League goal, and his possible departure would follow a short spell at the club despite the significant fee Chelsea paid to bring him from Ipswich.

Forest have already made several changes to their squad this summer. The club signed defender Ousmane Diomande from Sporting for £34 million and added midfielder Xaver Schlager and goalkeeper Steve Benda as free agents. Forest also sold England midfielder Elliot Anderson to Manchester City for a club-record £116 million and striker Taiwo Awoniyi to Coventry City for £9 million.

If a move is completed, Delap would join a Forest forward group that includes Chris Wood and Igor Jesus. Chelsea, meanwhile, are seeking to complete a number of sales and loans before the September 1 transfer deadline and currently have 39 senior players on their books. For now, Forest's pursuit is ongoing, with the final type of deal still to be determined.
