Jon Rahm Wins Valspar Championship with Dramatic Eagle on 18th Hole to Defeat Collin Morikawa by One Shot
The Spanish star holed a 40-foot putt for eagle to claim victory in thrilling fashion at Innisbrook Resort and earn his first PGA Tour win of 2026.

Jon Rahm delivered one of the most dramatic finishes in PGA Tour history on Friday evening at Innisbrook Resort, holing a stunning 40-foot eagle putt on the 72nd hole to win the Valspar Championship by one shot over Collin Morikawa in a conclusion that sent the gallery into raptures and reminded everyone why golf remains one of the most unpredictable sports in the world.

The 29-year-old Spaniard entered the final hole trailing Morikawa by one shot and needing birdie to force a playoff, but his approach shot from 165 yards landed 40 feet from the pin and left him with a challenging putt across Innisbrook treacherous Copperhead Course greens. Rahm read the break perfectly and rolled in the eagle putt to complete a back-nine 31 and claim his first PGA Tour victory of 2026.

I cannot believe that putt went in, especially with everything on the line, Rahm said while being congratulated by his wife and children on the 18th green. Collin played incredible golf all week and deserved to be in that position, but sometimes golf gives you moments like this that you will remember forever. This victory feels extra special because of how it happened.

The eagle capped off a remarkable final round that featured multiple lead changes and spectacular shot-making from both players. Rahm carded a 6-under 65 despite making bogey on the 15th hole, while Morikawa shot 67 and appeared destined for victory until Rahm miraculous finish denied him what would have been his sixth PGA Tour title.

Morikawa displayed exceptional grace in defeat, immediately congratulating Rahm and acknowledging that the Spaniard earned the victory with one of the finest putts under pressure that he had ever witnessed. Jon made an unbelievable putt when he absolutely had to, Morikawa said. That is what champions do, and I have nothing but respect for how he handled that moment.

The victory represents Rahm 11th PGA Tour title and his first since joining LIV Golf before returning to the PGA Tour under the new unified structure. His emotional celebration with family members demonstrated how much the win meant after a period of uncertainty about his professional golf future and competitive schedule.
