Denver Nuggets Secure Western Conference Top Seed with Dominant 124-108 Victory Over Golden State Warriors
Nikola Jokic recorded another triple-double as the defending champions locked up home-court advantage throughout the Western Conference playoffs.

The Denver Nuggets officially secured the Western Conference top seed for the 2026 playoffs on Friday night at Ball Arena, defeating the Golden State Warriors 124-108 behind another masterful triple-double performance from Nikola Jokic that demonstrated why the defending champions remain the team to beat in the loaded Western Conference.

Jokic was in complete command throughout the contest, finishing with 28 points, 14 rebounds, and 12 assists while shooting an efficient 12-of-18 from the field. The two-time MVP controlled the pace of the game with his exceptional court vision and basketball IQ, repeatedly finding open teammates while also dominating the glass and scoring when opportunities presented themselves.

This feels amazing to secure the top seed again, especially with how competitive the West has been all season, Jokic said during his post-game interview. Every team in the playoffs will be dangerous, but having home court advantage gives us confidence that we can defend our championship. Our team has great chemistry and experience in big moments.

The victory moves Denver to 57-16 on the season and guarantees they will host every playoff series through the Western Conference Finals. The Nuggets have been remarkably consistent all year, posting the best home record in the NBA while also showing the ability to win crucial road games when needed.

Denver received excellent support from Jamal Murray, who scored 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting, and Michael Porter Jr., who added 19 points and 8 rebounds in what was a balanced offensive attack. The Nuggets depth and versatility have been key factors in their success, with multiple players capable of taking over games when circumstances require it.

Golden State fought hard despite the loss, with Stephen Curry scoring 31 points and Klay Thompson adding 22 in what was a competitive contest for three quarters. The Warriors remain locked in a battle for playoff positioning and will need strong finishes to their remaining games to secure a favorable first-round matchup.

Nuggets head coach Michael Malone praised his team focus and execution after the victory, noting that securing the top seed represents validation of their consistent effort throughout the season. We have been building toward this moment all year long, Malone said. This group understands what it takes to win in the playoffs, and having home court advantage gives us the best possible chance to repeat as champions.

With the regular season winding down, Denver appears poised for another deep playoff run, armed with the experience of championship success and a roster that has proven capable of performing under the highest pressure situations when games matter most.
